Freedom Fest 2019

Imperial, California - Freedom Fest began in 1991, the year the Gulf War ended and has become Imperial County’s largest single day event with just under 60,000 people on and around the Imperial Valley College campus and many more witnessing and listening to this event from their homes, roadsides and on canal banks around the valley.

Freedom Fest is more than just a fireworks show. It is truly a celebration as families gather on the grassy athletic fields of Imperial Valley College campus with their lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and radios to celebrate the birth of our nation, Independence Day, and the Armed Services that protect our nation today. It’s a moving and fun filled evening of food booths, numerous static displays, games for the kids, military vehicles, and more displayed throughout the grounds.

This is the 29th year FM 107.5 has produced and underwritten this fireworks show synchronized to music on behalf of the Imperial Chamber of Commerce.

This countywide event has the support and endorsement of the Imperial County Board of Supervisors with over 335 countywide volunteers and agencies coming together yearly to make this event possible. The following agencies have been a part of the event providing technical support, static displays, security, and much more: the Imperial County Fire Department, Imperial County Sheriff Reserves and Explorer’s Post, Sheriff’s Posse, California Highway Patrol, City of Imperial, Brawley, and Calexico Police Departments, De Anza Search and Rescue, Imperial County Public Works, Imperial Valley College, Border Patrol, California National Guard, U.S. Customs, D.E.A., and Naval Air Facility El Centro.

This year’s event is Thursday, July 4th, from 6 pm to 10:30 pm. Concessions open at 6 pm and fireworks at 9:30pm.

The fireworks are free to the public and provided as a community service.
